Chocolate Chip Mini Loaf from Street Sweets 03-12-2010

Location: 50th St. between 6th and 7th Ave

Feelings: I have a confession to make. I have not paid a visit to my favorite dessert truck, Street Sweets in months. I have been trying to avoid sweets and coffee as much as I can due to pregnancy, so as soon as I see that bright blue truck, I look away and close my eyes. It has been quite tortuous. Sometimes you would see me walking down 50th Street with tears streaming down my face.

After raving about the truck to my delightful coworker, OM, he has become their #1 customer instead of this pregger-gal. Delighted, he brought me a warm chocolate chip mini loaf from the truck this afternoon. To eat, or not to eat? What do most health conscious girls in Manhattan do when the devilishly awesome dessert is before them? To share, of course! When you share, you consume zero calories!

I did exactly that: I took it home and shared it with RB. This was his first Street Sweets experience. He said this was one of the best bready cakes he has ever had, and he almost stopped sharing it with me. It was not warm anymore, but it was still perfectly moist and crispy outside. The texture, subtle sweetness, and buttery flavor all created the delectable dream.

Oh dear Street Sweets, I shall come back to you as soon as I am done taking care of some business. Will you please wait for me until then?

Looks and sounds delicious. That's a place that will be on my agenda in the coming weeks. Though I am trying to swear off sweets myself but it keeps calling us!

Btw, have you had Doughnut Plant? It will change your life and become another addiction. Three words: tres leches doughnut.

Yep!! Doughnut Plant is awesome, and I love the ep of Throwdown with them. Lucky RB gets doughnuts from there at work.

I can't live without sweets, especially chocolate; I admire you for resisting the temptation, bravo!
