My Favorite Thing: Hanuta 05-05-2011

Feelings: Hazelnuts, chocolate, and wafers-- these are some of my favorite things. When these elements are adeptly combined, you find one of Germany's popular snacks, Hanuta. This rather simple sweet snack comes in the form of a wafer sandwich with rich chocolate hazelnut cream and little pieces of hazelnuts in the middle. The texture of two crunchy wheat wafers and the creaminess of the filling are simply divine. The nuttiness and a slight bitterness of cocoa also give this snack an edge.

Two of these delicious hazelnut sandwiches are included when you buy one Hanuta, usually around the price of $1.85 at your local bodega. I enjoy the individually wrapped packaging in case I want to be sensible and only want to eat one..., which of course almost never happens.

Found your blog via Tea Happiness. I have been enjoying Choceur Waffernusse (Austrian) gifted by a friend.
