Taim Mobile 12-20-2010

Location: 46th St. b/w 5th and 6th
Time: 12pm
People: AP, MKang and myself

Feelings: It is no doubt Taim and Azuri are now New York institutions of falafel, but their inconvenient locations leave something to be desired. Is it a prerequisite to be oddly located to become a New York institution? I have always been a big fan of Taim in West Village for their tiny Falafel balls and fresh diced vegetables, but ever since the closing of Marc Jacobs accessories store, I have not set foot in the West Village.

Then, the angels of Taim heard my prayers and appeared in Midtown as "Taim Mobile." At the price of $5.75, we can now all appreciatively enjoy their intricate falafel and pillowy pita. I ordered their $8 lunch special, which came with Green falafel sandwich (parsley, cilantro and mint) and mint lemonade. As it turns out, the wait was actually shorter than the West Village location while maintaining the same delicious flavor. The light and crispy falafel with creamy heaven of hummus is worth standing in line for albeit the brisk wind.

Do not forget: Taim's full name is "Taim Falafel and Smoothie Bar," therefore, they have smoothies available on the truck as well. Meat-centric carts tend to occupy the midtown lunch scene, but vegans and vegetarians can now rejoice this literally "tasty" (taim in Hebrew) addition.

I agree that the truck is great and worth waiting in line for! But I think Azuri is still the falafel winner in Midtown!

No doubt about that! I haven't seen you forever, btw. I'm still buried in tapes and invoices.
