Sweet Melissa Cremerie 06-05-2010

Location: 276 Court St. BK
Time: 4pm
People: RB and myself

Feelings: Ever since MKang brought us the delicious chocolate cake from Sweet Melissa Patisserie to the party, I have been interested in trying their cremerie next door. On this scorching hot and humid day, with Lactaid pills in hand, we walked about 15 minutes to get to this ice cream oasis. Although it is located in kids friendly area, Sweet Melissa Cremerie is a grown up ice cream shop: They have quite a nice, serene seating area in the back, which would be perfect for a hot date as well as BoCoCa toddler's ice cream parties. The flavors of their offerings, both at the patisserie and cremerie, are sophisticated and complex while maintaining the subtly balanced sweetness.

The portion of my Chocolate Brownie Sundae was more than large for one person, so I shared it with RB. The homemade Valrhona hot fudge was rich and intense, and it gently melted the cold vanilla ice cream. The perfect distribution of the ingredients delivered all the delicious components into my mouth. I am usually not a big fan of brownies, but these particular chunks of brownies were ethereally bitter sweet and moist. As they soaked up all the melted ice cream, they became even more decadent and irresistible.

RB had Hot Fudge Peanut Brittle Sundae, which was extremely fudgie, rich and delicious. However, he realized after ordering that he dislikes peanut brittle. I too despise it, so the sad remains of peanut brittle sat at the bottom of the dish. I am sure the nature of hard texture paired with creaminess of the ice cream would have mixed brilliantly.

The sundae at Sweet Melissa is around $6 and not cheap, but it is a nice Summer weekend indulgence. Perhaps one sundae is big enough to share for two people to save some bucks and calorie intake. I am already planning a return trip to try their croissant ice cream sandwich next..
