Vegetarian Ginger 10-18-2009

Location: 128 Montague St.
Time: 3pm
People: RB and myself

Feelings: This past Sunday was brutal: windy, rainy, and coldy. After spending my morning and early afternoon with my friends at the fabulous event called Breakfast at Bergdorf, all I needed was a bit of sleep and good Chinese delivery. Vegan Chinese would be even better.

I am not sure if Vegetarian Ginger tries to be Wild Ginger or the ginger name is only a kind of coincidence, but Vegetarian Ginger is a more casual, quick, and friendly takeout spot. It sure is far less expensive.

They have an amazingly reasonable lunch special menu for $5.95. I ordered cold noodle with sesame sauce, which came with salad and soup. The soba noodle tasted fresh, and it was a generous portion for lunch. It was a bit over-sauced but still delicious.

RB's tofu with black bean sauce was also very tasty, but it tasted more like sesame sauce. It was semi- sweet, which he was not expecting when he orderd black bean sauce. The tofu was juicy inside and firm on outside.

Vegetarian Ginger is my reliable vegan Chinese takeout/delivery spot in the area, and you really can't beat the price. Not many places have lunch specials on weekends. I am tempted to order vegan pumpkin cheesecake next time.
