Panya Reopened! 10-30-2009

Location: 8 Stuyvesant St.
People: RB and myself
Time: 7:30pm

Feelings: The Japanese bakery, Panya reopened last week! It used to be a tiny bakery that was only able to fit about two or three customers, but it is now more of a serious cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The space is much, much larger, so I can actually take my time to look through all of their pastries.

The original Panya was known for their Japanese hospitality and manners, and they managed to maintain the same service at this newly opened space. They of course kept their fresh pastries, bread, and cake as well as deliciously refreshing yuzu tea. The new savory additions such as onigiri, salad, sandwiches and sushi make the place seem more like Zaiya than the original Panya.

I bought an anpan ($2.25), which came in an adorable cupcake form instead of traditional pastry form. Although it was at 7:30pm, it was still very fresh and smelled amazing. Zaiya has a tough competition now in the area.
