Buddy's Burrito & Taco Bar 09-30-2009

Location: 260 Court St. BK
Time: 7:30pm
People: RB and myself

Feelings: Despite our various disappointments, our quest for decent burritos in BoCoCa area continues. Buddy's Burrito is located a block away from Original California Taqueria. It reminded us of a pizzeria with their small counter/kitchen and adjacent booths.

I ordered their "The Vegetarian Burrito," ($6.95) which is your standard veggie burrito with rice, beans, guacamole and salsa fresca. It was not the best burrito I have had, but this was perhaps one of the biggest burritos I have ever seen. The tortilla was fresh and chewy and was wrapped tightly enough to hold together all the dense fillings. The salsa was a little too sweet, and the guacamole was a runny green mess, but the rice and beans were fresh and well cooked.

RB was happy to see that they grilled the chicken for "The Brooklyn Burrito" ($6.95) fresh when he placed his order. Most burrito places rely on precooked and precut proteins, but this chicken was moist and had the nice char boiled flavor. I would like to try their shrimp burrito since I am sure they would pan fry the shrimp to order! Perhaps the messiness of the sauce and fixings can be overcome by the nice flavor of the grill.
