Ladies' Night with Boys, Recession Style 03-03-2009

Location: 123 Burger Shot Beer, 738 10th Ave
Time: 7pm
People: JLam from MeSoHungry, AnCan, RB, MGru, JT, Ava, Rich, KN, PMont and myself

Feelings: Did we find paradise? $1 for a slider, $2 for a shot, $3 a beer, buxom waitresses, 80s music blasting all night... Tuesdays are "Leighties" night (ladies night and 80s night rolled into one), and some of us had a luxury of drinking $8 white wine for only $1. As MGru pointed out, the sliders were smaller than White Castle's but much tastier. The $3 waffle fries and fried ravioli were perfectly seasoned and ideal snacks for our $3 beer. This place reminded us of our college days, especially with the drunken high-fives from the table next to us. We are older now, and cheap watered down beers and good snacks don't go down so easily, but they can always take us back to those good ol' days.

Post Slider Dessert: Ruby et Violette, 457 West 50th Street

Feelings: This place is so good that it made me think about my life. What have I been doing all these years in NYC not knowing Ruby et Violette's cookies existed? Just to think I have missed their over 100 selections of cookies such as "Darn Good!" "Creme de Menthe" "Root Beer Float," I feel I completely wasted my life here in New York. While I sipped their delicious coffee, and contemplated greater things, their lovely staff kept giving us samples of various cookies, ice cream, and drinking chocolate. This is what city life is all about. You don't know what kind of hidden gems you will discover and what sort of amazing cookie samples a nice lady will give you.
