Miansai Tea Bar 12-27-2013

Location: 33 Crosby St.
Time: 3pm

Feelings: The Miami-based men's accessory maker known for nautical rope bracelets, Miansai, opened its first flagship store on Crosby Street. With the neighbors like Saturdays Surf, Bonobos, Aether Apparel, and Carson Street Clothiers, Miansai compliments trendy stretch of Crosby street, which has become the ultimate destination of men's fashion. And each brand is just rugged or athletic enough for fashion-shy males. The thing about men's fashion, especially accessories, is that it can also attract many female clienteles. Many fashion forward women prefer men's clothing and accessories for its impeccable tailoring and simplicity, and Miansai has the cult following of many New York women like no other.

This new generation of proper, well-groomed gentlemen and women seem to enjoy relaxation and chill atmosphere. The shopping is done in a relaxing space with an overall calming experience. Saturdays has their creamy La Colombe coffee and quiet patio/garden. Onassis Clothing has their drinks and relaxing room. So what does Miansai bring? Tea from the Portland-based Tea Chi Té.

This small tea bar at the front of the shop offers four flavors of kombucha on tap and 20 loose tea blends. While the tea master (tea barista?) prepared my vanilla rooibos ($4.25), he suggested to walk around the store as it'll be exactly six minute wait for it to brew. And yes, it was exactly six minutes.

What a chic, serene space to sip a large cup of warm rooibos while securing gifts and eyeing on so many treasures! I will be back again for some kombucha in no time.
