2nd Annual Cookie Contest 12-20-2009

Location: Union Pool, 484 Union Ave BK
Time: 8pm
People: Lots of cookie loving people!

Feelings: It's a holiday time, which means it is time for the Me So Hungry cookie contest and holiday sing along party! Ramen and Friends, Vendr TV, Jackson Fish Market, and JLam were the judges for Me So Hungry's 2nd annual cookie contest that took place in Union Pool in Williamsburg.

Everyone truged through the snow to bring tons of delicious home made cookies, and it sure was difficult to pick one Ramen and Friends winner. After tasting various different flavors and textures, I chose JRath's "Double Chocolate Cookies." She mentioned she got the recipe from her friend Luisa of The Wednesady Chef, one of my favorite food sites. While other cookies had more home made Americana feel to them, her cookies were less sweet and more complexed. They had the powerful, rich, and dense chocolate flavor in a very sophisticated way. What did she win as a prize? Seven days worth of Top Ramen, of course! Congratulations, JRath-- enjoy a week of ramen.

I also voted for MGru's "Coconut Lime Bars", LauraE's "Flourless Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies" and MGill's "Peanut Butter Kisses Cookies," and they successfuly won other prizes. The best in the show was Bonnie's "Bourbon Balls," which I am not sure if they can be qualified as cookies! They were supposedly a shot of pure bourbon in each little ball. That's the way to win judges' hearts and minds, I suppose.

It was such a fun night of cookies, bands and friends. We really filled the venue, and it was a big success. Great job JLam! I can't wait for the next year's cookie contest.
