Cafe Zest Lunch 07-30-2008

"There's never enough Conbini"

Location: 47th Street b/w Lex and 3rd
Time: Lunch time
People: KN and myself

Feelings: When I'm leaving for a new job, they finally opened a Japanese Conbini near my work. It's pretty much like Cafe Zaiya on 41st but with less selections. Bento, Japanese sandwiches, riceballs, pastries and other yummy sweets can be found there. And of course they have yakisoba noodles and cold udon salad! Yum. The back seating area has a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, so it's a perfect place to take a long lunch.

Chiyono Afternoon 07-19-2008

"Hidden Gem."

Feelings: Probably the most authentic Japanese home cooked meal in NYC. Reminds me of my grandma's food.

Post Noodle Dessert: Goma (sesame) Pudding with Azuki and ice cream. Heavenly.

Other Feelings: Their bathroom is very nice!

Ippudo Night 07-17-2008

"Better be good if you are paying that much for ramen."

Location: Ippudo -65 4th Ave (I didn't know there was such thing as 4th ave)
Time: 7pm
People: Jason N, Chris E, Marg G, Rusty, RB and myself. (Ramen & Friends Meeting)

Feelings: Yes, this place is good. Good soup, good noodle, and the service is superb! They had 2 for 1 happy hour drink special, which made everyone enjoy their ramen even more. Decor was too chic for my ramen taste, however.

Post ramen dessert: Dessert Truck - St Marks and 8th St.
Feelings: Goat cheese cheesecake, bacon breadpudding!? Yes, they have amazing desserts. Not too sweet, not too heavy- just right, very chikalicious type dessert.

Other Feelings: Thank you Mr Bru for running out to get batteries for your prosumer camera.

"Eat Ramen, Drink Mugicha."

Location: Minca- 536 E. 5th St

Feelings: Low key decor, good cheap food, vegetarian options, and good mugicha -- they are all hard to beat. Def. order those Ebi Gyoza!

Post ramen dessert: Vieniero's - 342 E 11th St
Feelings: Good take out iced coffee!

Other Feelings: Thanks JLa for all the macro photos! Pork belly looks good. I can't wait to see your new camera.
